Two trends I am loving this spring: metallics and the embrace of ugly chic shoes. Let's talk metallics first...we'll get to the ugly shoes. I've got olive skin and something about the color gold has always attracted me. It's warm and sophisticated, but now more than ever it can also be playful.
Gold it popping up everywhere. And I like it in touches. The stripes on the white top are simple enough to wear everyday, yet they also feel special. This is the Collection Pleated Top from J.Crew. I paired it with the Ribboned Lucite Necklace that I found at Anthropologie.
I love that the cleat necklace makes a subtle statement that doesn't detract from the top. It's been the perfect way to break from all the heave bejeweled necklaces I had been wearing.
The pants are also J.Crew. They are a slim cargo style--a nice alternative to jeans yet sturdy enough for daily wear.
Finally, time to talk about the shoes. The ones my husband hates.
I fought the Birkenstock trend for a while. Last year I gave in and got this yellow pair. This year I'm jumping on the metallic bandwagon. This pair is a collaboration between J.Crew and Birkenstock. Unfortunately, they are sold out. But you can get a similar pair here on Amazon. They just don't have the white bottom. My feet are so happy in these thanks to the support. I know they are not in the least bit sexy. I can walk miles in these. And then I can switch to heels when Mr. Momtrends sees me. Are you in on this trend?
