Jewel Tones and Animal Prints

If I had to pick one trend that continues to be a favorite of mine it would have to be animal prints...namely leopard. Animal prints can literally be rocked all year long and have been "in" for so long, I don't even know if you can call them a trend. They're more of a constant in my book. They can definitely work as a neutral and can be paired with countless colors and prints. They look particularly fabulous with this fall's popular jewel tones. Jewel tones AND animal prints are both big fall 2013 fashion trends!

I decided to style leopard with two of my favorite jewel tones, emerald and eggplant. The Pantone color of the year is definitely still having a moment. Until a couple years ago, I hadn't thought to pair animal prints with green, but they actually go together quite nicely. The emerald really pops against it. I recently picked up a little leopard top from LOFT and I've found it so easy to style. It's amazingly versatile. Here, I rocked it with boyfriend jeans, vintage earrings, an emerald Clava crossbody bag and Nine West pointy-toe heels. While you won't see me taking this bag out when I have the kiddos with me, it's definitely perfect for a girls night out or date night! And a side note about the jeans...Don't put away your lighter rinses just because it's fall. Simply ground them with some more fall appropriate pieces, like I did with leopard and jewel tones, to get extra wear out of them!

Remember when I said that leopard print top was versatile? Well, here I dressed it down by trading out the heels for oh so comfy Daniel Green moccasins and a Vince Camuto leather wrap watch and H&M spiked bracelet, instead of the jeweled earrings, to add a bit of casual edge. The deep purple of the eggplant is a natural partner for leopard! And I love how reasonably priced the moccasins are! They're well under $100.00, but don't look it.

So, are you ready to pair your animal prints with color lovelies?
