How to Wear the Sheer Trend

I think I feel hard for the sheer trend in fashion at the 2013 Golden Globe awards. Seeing the stunning Kerri Washington in the nude-colored beaded dress and then Rachel Weisz in her black dotted number convinced me that thin is in when it comes to fabric.

Well, most of us won't be walking the red carpet this spring (wait, Jessica Alba are you reading this?). So we'll have to think of other ways to work the sheer looks into our closet. I came up with some closet inspiration at Target. And while thin may be in for fabric, this trend is universally appealing. You don't have to have a A-lister bod to pull this off.

Sheer & Lace:
Mossimo® Women's Lace Front Peplum Top -Cream ($24.99). This look is better for weekends or if you work in a creative industry. Pair it with denim.

Tip: Don't be afraid to layer color. A black under--layer can be sexy. Just make sure you do this for evening. It's not a safe play for the office.

Colored Sheer:
Xhilaration® Juniors Lace Key Hole High Low Tank ($14.99). We like mint with anything white on the bottom.

Tip: A fresh minty color like this one is perfect to pair with white jeans.

Plus-Sized Sheer:
Mossimo® Women's Short Sleeve Tee w/Sheer Front ($24.99). You don't have to be a size 2 to wear this trend. This flattering cut comes up to size XXL. The drape will show off curves while not grabbing. Wear it with a pencil skirt and you've got a great date night outfit. Toss on a blazer for day.

Tip: Wear your hair up with a sheer top so more drama is created.
