I'm of the school of thought that there is pretty much no trend that is off limits...with the exception of flatforms that is. I will never be able to bring myself to promote Frankenstein shoes, but I digress. In most cases, there is a way for everyone to comfortably rock a trend. Sometimes you just have to get a bit creative. Well, there is one fall 2013 hat trend that almost eluded me. I almost broke my own rule to always try to be open minded when it comes to fashion.
Hats, and beanies in particular, are hot hot hot for this fall and winter. Even before they were on trend, I loved the way those seemingly eternally cool girls rocked beanies with their tough chick boots and uber distressed denim. I just wasn't sure it was a look that I could successfully pull off. I'm a thirty something mama...Can I really rock a look that snowboarding teenagers embrace? The answer is yes. I just had to find a way that worked for me. And I did...For me, the answer was to go in less of a "cool" direction and more of a pretty one.
If you can call me anything, you can definitely call me a girly girl. Feminine pieces always attract me and happily, there is a bevy of beautiful beanies from which this pretty lovin' gal can choose from! Are you wondering just how to wear a beanie? Well, instead of pairing my beanies with flannel, this girl plans on rockin' them with loose knits and skinnies or leggings. If you've been shying away from this particular piece of headwear too, the pretty route just might work.
Lole and Verloop offer a slew of printed and detailed beanies that are sure to appeal to even the beanie shy. I'm partial to the cable knit, pom adorned cutie myself. Can't you see it with a slouchy knit sweater, leggings, mittens and a Starbucks red cup in hand? Is anyone else all of a sudden READY for winter? It's amazing what that little red cup does for my spirits. Haha!
