Monday Mingle: How to Style an A-line Skirt

Swingy Pink Skirt

Think pink! It's been my theme color this spring. Most people can wear pink--it's just a matter of getting over the connotations that it's a childish color. It isn't.

Yes, my girls love the color (well the 9 year old is over it), but it can be sophisticated too. This outfit is all about the skirt. It's from Shabby Apple. An A-line skirt flatters most people and if you are afraid to wear pink by your face, this is the perfect solution.

The top and necklace are from LOFT. Tres Jolie says the t-shirt (kinda perfect since I am just back from Paris) I think the t-shirt is the perfect thing to work with this skirt--it's romantic with a twist. The shoes are old Ralph Lauren sandals and the bag I've had for a few years--it's from Kohl's. You gotta love having great go-tos in the closet that work with your new finds!

The Park Avenue Skirt is organza and has fun stripes. I like it paired with white or gray on top, but you could also color-block. The length and cut are very flattering. A-line skirts create a nipped in waist (which I accented by knotting my tee) so if your are hour-glass this is a great style for you. If you are straighter up and down (as I am) this skirt creates some curves.

Loft accessories

And one last note. I love my neighborhood in Brooklyn--we have a PINK recycling truck! It works with the pink necklace from LOFT. How often do you get to accessorize your outfit with the garbage truck!
