I've always wanted to visit the Hamptons in the summertime. The moment I saw Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha hop on the Jitney, I put it on my bucket list. This Florida girl is no stranger to the beach and I love our pearly white stretches of sand, but there is something so sophisticated about the Hamptons. Plus, The Barefoot Contessa can be found there which makes it all that more intriguing to this Food Network addict. Haha!
Typically, when I think about the Hamptons, I imagine casually chic people taking a stroll on the beach during the day and dressing up in resort wear for a glamorous dinner in the evening. I decided to check in with my lovely friend Monica Shulman of Ciao, Chessa! to see if I was on the right track. Monica has a home in the Hamptons and the photos that she posts of the wonderful times she has there with her family always instantly make we want to plan a trip! Plus, she has a divine sense of style so I knew she wouldn't steer me wrong when it comes to Hamptons style.
"For me the Hamptons in the summer are about fun, laid-back glamour. Your days are spent wearing bathing suits and bright cover-ups and probably barefoot but most likely with a fun pair of flat sandals or flip flops, at the beach, at local clams bars, riding your bike, picking your own produce at one of many local farm stands, or surfing. Your evenings might be spent either at any of the amazing bars or restaurants or grilling in your own backyard but that idea of cool, casual elegance is always there. I love summer looks that translate well for any time of the day so brightly colored dresses, white denim, cotton pants, and linen t-shirts seem to be a uniform, with cool, slightly edgier accessories to dress up a bit in the evening," Monica told me.Thanks to her, I know just what I'd pack for a trip to the Hamptons. Even if you don't have plans to visit anytime soon, there's no reason you can't channel Hamptons style!
I've always been a fan of prints and I love the daytime versions of prints that JACHS offers. The easy breezy style that a striped dress and denim jacket or a printed shirt and cuffed shorts evoke is perfect for the Hamptons. Throw on a pair of neutral leather sandals and you're ready to face the day!
Why You Should Consider Going Shoe-Free at Home
I went to a birthday party for a one year old at a friend's house a few years back, and was greeted at the door by a passive-aggressive sign that read "No Shoes in the House. Please Wear Socks or Hospital Slippers." (There was a big box of disposable surgical socks free for the ...read more

A Hamptons fixture herself, Ramy Brook's designs are cool, yet elegant and could easily take you from the beach to cocktails. All these dresses are missing are some metallic sandals and an armful of bangles or even a fabulous cocktail ring.
