Customize Your Gear, Create Your Own Style

My friend used to joke that once she became a mother she stopped noticing other women’s engagement rings and started admiring their strollers instead… Stylish mamas love their Stokkes and their Bugabos and their Quinnys and their fancy-schmancy three-wheeled joggers. We treat our gear like precious accessories. They complement our outfits and keep our babies comfy and cozy—win-win!

While I've always been a stroller collector and connoisseur, I've never really paid much mind to the car-seat brands my mom friends are carrying. Obviously, car seats are incredibly important. But I've always looked at that them as practical and utilitarian, and never even entertained the option that they could be functional and fashionable... Until now.

When Maxi-Cosi announced the launch of their new customizable Mico Max 30 car seats, I knew I had to design one, make one, and snag one for my six month old little lady.

Here's how it works: Using a smart phone, tablet, or laptop, you can choose from a variety of colors for the base, main cushion seat, canopy, and cozi set to create a one-of-a-kind design. Your customized seat is then hand-assembled and delivered within three weeks. I chose a white base, pink cushion, gray canopy, and gray cozi set. It’s so fun, summery, and bright—I absolutely love it. (I’m pretty sure Baby P is a fan too.)

To celebrate our favorite new "accessory", I decided to style coordinating outfits for myself and Baby inspired by our custom car seat creation. I opted for a hot pink swing top and white jeans with black and white accessories. I dressed my mini me in a white romper with a black pineapple-print pattern and topped off her look with a hot pink floral headband, of course. I think we make a pretty cute matching pair—especially with our new Mico Max 30 by our side.

Who needs a designer handbag?... I've got the cutest arm candy around.
