Channel Lauren Conrad's Kentucky Derby Style

Hey Derby fans, it's almost time. The first weekend in May will bring yet another fabulous Kentucky Derby race our way. So, obviously it's time to talk abut Kentucky Derby style. Even if the ponies aren't your thing, I bet you can appreciate a good excuse to get all dolled up! Come on...Don't you want to channel your inner Southern belle and don a large and in charge hat?

Although it's been on my bucket list for years, I've yet to make the trip Churchill Downs, but that doesn't stop me from celebrating my own way. I'll be in Atlanta during the race weekend this year, but I just may have to pack a hat or two in my suitcase. If I wasn't going to be out of town, a Derby themed party would definitely be on my agenda. I know my ladies would jump at the chance to try their hand at Kentucky Derby fashion...I bet your girlfriends would be all for it too!

If you do plan on celebrating the Derby this year, you don't have to break the bank to look Derby fabulous. You could head to the favorite haunts of budget watching fashion lovers everywhere, TJ Maxx and Marshalls to pick up some Derby ready pieces. And if you really want to get bang for your buck, pick up versatile pieces that you can remix into countless spring and summer looks.

I was inspired by the nude tones of Lauren Conrand's 2013 Derby look and chose a neutral dress with just a touch of color at the shoulders. A dress like this would easily fit into your work wardrobe, yet you could dress it up and make it worthy of a celebration like the Derby by adding statement shoes. Multi-color sandals like these would look fabulous with a white tee and skinnies later in the season no? Plus, oversized sunnies and a roomy bag would fit into any mama's wardrobe.

So, whose Kentucky Derby style are you looking to emulate this year lovelies?
