I adore Nancy Horn for her willingness to share trendy finds with me. Nancy introduced me to some of my favorite treats (YouCake) and strollers (TFK) and is one of the most generous bloggers I know. When word spread that she was expecting #3, I relentlessly asked her to join in the Great Expectations fun here are Momtrends. Let's find out the latest from this New York Mama.
Due Date:August 15, 2010
Career and do you have a post-baby career plan: I'm a writer for Mommies With Style & the Celebrity Baby Blog, plus Chief Marketing Director for YouCake.com - we make stunning edible digital photo cake toppers, customers can apply our toppers to any white frosted cake, cookies or cupcakes (either store-bought or home made). Pre-children, I spent 5 years in production at Food Network and then got my masters in Ed and was a NYC Elementary School Teacher for 6 years. I'??m not really sure what'??s going to happen in the fall, I'??m hoping to keep blogging and continue to work for YouCake, but I may also have to go back to teaching to help make ends meet. We'??ll have to get a babysitter for my 2 year old and the new baby, and my son will be in Kindergarten full day. I'd rather be home with my children, but I need to contribute to the family income.
If it were up to you how long would paid maternity last:Six months to a year paid leave! My friend in England got to take 6 months paid and then went back to her job part'??time, doing a job share. I think Europe seems to value working moms more. As an NYC teacher, you only get paid for your vacation days that you've '??banked'?, though you can take 12 weeks unpaid Family Leave. If you take extended unpaid childcare leave, you can have up to 5 years per child -- which is what I'??ve been doing since my son was born in the fall of 2005.
Weirdest food I've craved this pregnancy: Navel oranges and almond butter on whole wheat bread!
True or false--I can still see my feet:True '?? but I am only in the beginning of my 2nd trimester.
Favorite maternity fashion splurge:Haven'??t done it yet for this pregnancy yet, but I have a dear friend'??s wedding on May 30th!

I'm passionate about: Gestational diabetes awareness. I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic in November and being monitored closely for gestational diabetes. I take a diabetes drug called Metformin and am following the gestational diabetes diet closely. My 73 year old father has had diabetes for years and if I get it during this pregnancy, I have a high chance of developing it for good afterwards. I am actually at my lowest weight in years and hoping to not to gain to much weight during this pregnancy and exercising (so that will help my chances of keeping the gestational diabetes away). I had terrible acid reflux with my other two pregnancies, so being at a lower weight will also help with that.
Evidence your nesting instincts have kicked in?I'??m cleaning all the time now (yuck!)
