The New Citi ThankYou Rewards and Best Buy App

We are truly living in a digital world where we can connect to services and products directly through our phone. Companies are realizing the surge of the mobile lifestyle and are constantly coming up with new apps to everyday tasks easier. I recently learned about such an app at the launch of the extended Citi ThankYou Rewards App. This app developed in collaboration with Best Buy allows ThankYou Members to redeem their points at any location to have items shipped or picked up at any Best Buy store.


At the launch of the exciting new app, Ralph Andretta, executive vice president of Loyalty and New Products at Citi stated, '??This new app is a first in the marketplace and delivers a more flexible and convenient way to redeem points on the go '?? at Best Buy stores or virtually from anywhere.'? How it works is every simple: consumers redeem their points on their iPhone, iPod touch or Android device where they can scan items at Best Buy or even search for products at their local coffee shop. Once you order the item you can pick it up within minutes or have it shipped anywhere within the U.S. This is quite the time-saving application for busy moms-on-the-go who don'??t have time to shop but still want the same experience and products from Best Buy.

At the press launch I also had the opportunity to test out this app with 2,500 points. I signed up to Citi'??s Thank You rewards program and then downloaded the free app to my iPhone. Within minutes my points were loaded into the app and I was able to browse through the store to determine which items I could redeem. As I was looking through the store, I also noticed that the app includes several features to make searching for rewards easier. You can browse rewards, search rewards and scan a barcode. Through the '??browse rewards'?? section, the app filters products such as books, CDs and DVDs, computers etc that you see what items are within your point value. The '??search rewards'?? function allows you to type in an item and see what its value is. At the event, I also learned about the '??scan a barcode'?? function where you can scan a product at any Best Buy where the app then looks up the item to determine if you have enough points to redeem that item. After some brief instructions I was off and scanning products to redeem throughout the store. Since I had 2,500 points I scanned through products like DVDs and ear buds to assess their value. If I wanted to use my points all I would have to do was click on the '??redeem at checkout'?? button and my item would instantly be ready for pick-up. As a mom-on-the-go it'??s nice to have app that provides me with flexibility to choose products whether I am at my home or if I only have time for a quick pick up.
