Strawberry Shortcake Lives On

strawberry shortcake

Remember this little lady who smelled fruity and looked oh, so cute? Well she recently had an anniversary (30 years!) and is trendier than ever. This girl is promoted as sweet, spirited, adventurous and optimistic. I always liked her "can-do spirit" so when I was asked to judge a Shortcake contest for kids I signed on.

Sponsored by American Greetings, the contest is a celebration of Strawberry Shortcake's upcoming DVD adventure Puttin' on The Glitz that taps into kids' love of dressing up and styling the hair of their beloved dolls (moms of boys can probably stop reading this now).

Little girls are invited to style the hair of their favorite Strawberry Shortcake (and friends) doll and then submit a photo of their masterpiece for a chance to win a Strawberry Shortcake prize package. Finalists in the contest will be posted on

The contest runs until April 18--so there is still time to get involved. Winners get a prize pack value of $75. Last week, I was sent a list of contenders and judged on three criteria:

1. Appearance and Visual Appeal
2. Originality and Creativity
3. Adherence to the Puttin' on the Glitz Theme

Tough assignment (I didn't want to crush and egos for future Project Runway stars)--in the end the judges and I decided on this winner. I think we can all agree she is pretty fabulous.
