Launch of 'Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns'
I can clearly remember when Devil Wears Prada came out in 2004. I loved the snappy and connected words of writer, Lauren Weisberger, who truthfully depicted the budding assistant, Andy, and her search for the perfect job when faced with the ultimate 'evil boss' in the face of editor-in-chief, Miranda Presley.
Andy Sachs is back, and this time it is 10 years after she quit the job a million girls would die for" in the sequel: Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns. According to Amazon (have yet to read it yet!), the "book picks up where Andy and Emily, her former nemesis and co-assistant, have joined forces to start a high-end bridal magazine. Andy Sachs is on top of the world and about to get married. However, the morning of her wedding, Andy cant shake the past. And when she discovers a secret letter with crushing implications, her wedding-day jitters turn to cold dread. Andy realizes that nothingnot her husband, nor her beloved careeris as it seems. She never suspected that her efforts to build a bright new life would lead her back to the darkness she barely escaped 10 years agoand directly into the path of the devil herself..."
To celebrate the launch of this quintessential 'beach read,' author Lauren Weisberger was on-hand at the Oscar Blandi Salon in NYC where she read an excerpt of the book and talked more about where the story left off. From the few pages that she read, I loved hearing the witty prose as this ever-entertaining story came back to life - mixed with its complex situations through the older evolved and older characters.
Since Devil Wears Prada was such a sensation, I asked Lauren about the writing process and if she knew all along that she would write a second book. She noted that she didn't originally plan for a second book but that she loved these characters so much, so over time the characters matured
She was also asked if this new book has been optioned for a movie, and while she isn't involved in that process she did love the Devil Wears Prada movie, and is hopefully that the same exact cast will return. Adding, "Only Meryl Streep can play Miranda...she was amazing in that role."
During the event guests were also treated to treats from Godiva, Chloe's, Treat House and drinks from Avion Tequila and hair styles from the Oscar Blandi salon.
For the ultimate beach read, treat yourself to a fun escape with Revenge Wears Prada...I know I will.
