Get Ripped with Indoor Cycling Classes at Revolve

Revolve Fitness Studio

I was invited to try out a dynamic spin class called Revolve in New York city's Union Square. I'd heard of Spinwheel and even SoulCycle, but I was interested to see what this New York ride had to offer. With locations in DC and New York, I decided to sign up for their most challenging ride that is specific only to NYC and taught by elite trainer Kira Stokes (as seen on Rachel Ray, TODAY and in Women's Health, SELF, and Health magazines).

Revolve Instructor Kira Stokes

In my case I signed up for 60-minute Rip Ride, but this class dedicated to fitness fanatics also has a 75-minute version. Kira coached us up and down mountains, had us push even further on the flat and had sweat dripping off every rider within minutes.

The energy in the room is palatable as we are racing along to high energy tunes from the likes of Michael Jackson and a mix version of one of my favorite songs at the moment from Mumford and Sons. As if the rhythm of the music isn't enough, the lights dim as we focus on cycling to the beat of the tunes. Just as we are about to get out of the saddle and really crank it, Kira flashes a light, and has the class whooping in delight once we ease off.

Kira's energy is infectious, and I found myself pushing to reach the RPM goal she set at every interval. You touch a button on a small console that sits above the handlebars to see if you are reaching the cadence she is challenging you to get to. Before I could think about it too much, the light would dim.

The RIP Ride is for anyone that wants to push themselves and get a full body workout in one hour. Combined into the class are 2 intervals of upper body training with weights, an awesome workout for your triceps, biceps, back and even your core.
