Modern Straight Leg Jean ($78.00) [lower rise silhouette, narrow straight cut leg; flattering dark rinse color]
We really dislike the term '??mom jeans'? '?? especially since it implies that once you have kids all sense of fashion goes out the window. You can still look and feel great in a killer pair of jeans that is also flattering to your body type. Sunil Ramchandani, Senior Designer for Jockey Person to Person recently shared his most coveted tips to wearing and scoring jeans that will flatter every body type to help you rock your jeans with confidence.
Denim Done Right: How to find and wear jeans that will flatter your figure!
Fabric: When shopping for a new pair of jeans look for a poly cotton blend that will help retain the shape and color of the jean material a lot longer. Another tip is to hand wash jeans, which will allow the material to last longer. A mid weight, 8 to 11 ounces per yard, is also perfect for year round wear.
Fit: The right fit is what can make or break the look of a The waist should have enough room to fit one finger in between the pants and yourself and the denim must be fitted through the thigh and knee. The rise should be 1'? below your belly button but no more than 3'?.
Length: Jeans should touch the floor if you are wearing flats like comfy ballet slippers. With heels, the pant leg should be ¼'? above the floor on your back heel. Sunil also suggest that you should have separate pairs to wear with heels and flats.
Leg Shapes and Body Types: According to Sunil Ramchandani, bootleg jeans work best on Pear and Hourglass body shapes. Straight legs work best on Apple and Pencil body shapes and wide legs work best on Strawberry shaped body types
Camouflage Your Flaws: If you have a slight belly, go for a stretched fitted jean and wear them with longer length, un-tucked boots. If you have a large bottom, go for a slightly lower rise with simple back pockets. Big Hips, the boot cut is your friend as it will help rebalance your figure.
