Last week a fantastic bash was held in NYC in honor of Asphalt Green, a non-profit charitable organization that enables young athletes to thrive and train in an incredible environment with a passionate and dedicated staff. This celebrated how this organization has enabled Lia and other athletes (not just swimmers) to accomplish (Lia has been on the "Swim for the Future" scholarship at Asphalt Green (set up in memory of two Asphalt Green Masters Swimmers who died on 9/11) since she was 8 years old, she's still a member of the AGUA--Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics--team).

Held at the home of Darcy Miller, editorial director of Martha Stewart Weddingsand Andy Nussbaum, Chairman of the Board, Asphalt Green. Guests like Rowdy Gaines, Lia Neal and the Neal family, Martha Stewart, Kate & Andy Spade, Essie Weingarten, Alex Shuman, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff and David Wolkoff, Nancy Jarecki, Sharon Hurwitz, Bruce Beck, Lauren Glassberg, Jane Hanson, Lucy Danziger, Ilana Blitzer, Tiffany Moller, Amy Rosenblum, staff & board members of Asphalt Green were all in attendance and enjoyed delicious bites from Peter Callahan, Shellco NYC and Eleni's.

Photo Op was also in attendance where Darcy and her team picked up fun props for the photo booth including American flags, Asphalt Green flags, towels, Malia Mills flower bathing caps and more.

Asphalt Green is so much more than just a state-of-the-art facility where people swim and go to other fitness classes. They are a non-profit charitable organization that has amazing community service programs including:

--Waterproofing (a free swim instruction and water safety program serving public school children in Harlem)
--Recess Enhancement Program (creates a safe environment where children can have fun and be physically active while maintaining a sense of independence and ownership of the recess period)
--Community Sports Leagues
--Scholarships for all of their fee-based programs so New Yorkers of all backgrounds can get fit and healthy
