The Vans Custom Couture Contest was created to "inspire and empower" high school student to embrace the art and design. The Contest also brings attention and raises money for dwindling arts education programs throughout the country.
Now in the public voting phase, the Custom Couture Contest s a national high school customization competition using four pairs of blank Vans shoes to be customized around four themes: Art, Music, Action Sports and Local Flavor.
More than 91,000 students are involved from over 5,000 high schools but the competition has been narrowed to the top 50. You can join the fun by casting your vote now through May 11. The top 5 teams will be flown to New York to crown the ultimate grand prize winner.
Vans sent us a blank pair of shoes to take a stab at the Custom Couture Contest. I don't think my daughter and her friend will win any awards, but they did spread the love with their colorful pair of shoes.
Not surprisingly, the 50 finalists are pretty amazing. I had to cast a vote for Circleville High School from Ohio.
And this amazing entry from Atlantic Coast High School caught my attention.
Head over to the Vans Custom Couture Contest page to vote for your favorites and follow along to see which school nabs the grand prize - $50,000 for their school's art program!
