I’ve moved a lot since becoming an "adult." After college, I moved into a four-bedroom apartment in NYC with five of my best friends (yes, it was a blast). Then I moved to Los Angeles for work, but my West Coast stint lasted only nine months, before I was Big Apple-bound, once again. After relatively short stays in the Financial District and on the Upper West Side, my husband and I decided that, with a baby on the way, we'd need more space and green grass. So we chose Connecticut, and thought we'd stay forever. Of course, Child #2 made her way into the world, and we came to the conclusion that we needed more help, less distance. So we moved to Long Island, where most of my family resides.
The gist of my rant is this: I’m a pro. Not sure it’s something to be proud of—but I can move in my sleep. I know how to pack, who to call, and what to do when it’s time to move on.
Now that my children are getting older and we're in a good school district, I'm hoping to stay put for a while. (Also, I think my husband’s arms need a good long break from heavy lifting! Ha!)
Nevertheless, I have quite a bit to say and ample advice to give about how to make a move an easier, smoother, and less painful process. That’s why I’m excited to be a part of the #AWorryLessMove Twitter party with Liberty Mutual (@libertymutual) and Chip Wade (@chipwade).
