Each season I love to schedule a family photo shoot. That could mean a session with all four of us or sometimes it's just the kids. Watching how they grow and evolve throughout the year is the greatest gift and I so enjoy capturing them in frame worthy photos. Now, typically, we turn to our favorite family photographer, but that can get expensive when you're talking about doing several shoots a year, plus everyone's schedules have to coordinate. Most in demand photographers book up months in advance. So, I'm not above getting creative in order to get my family photo shoots done...
And this time I decided to head to a studio. Portrait Innovations in Clearwater, Florida to be exact. The staff at this location was filled with lovely, smiling people who knew just what to do to make our family photo shoot fun. The fact that the kids were having a blast meant their natural personalities shone through in their portraits and I couldn't be more thrilled with how they turned out. As you can see, at Portrait Innovations they offer an array of backgrounds that you can select based on your color preferences!
Being that we just went through the process, I thought I would share a few easy tips to help you get the best family photos possible...
Spiked Apple Cider Pops

1. Select coordinating outfits. There is no reason that you have to get all matchy matchy with their looks if you don't want to, but pieces in coordinating prints and colors look fabulous together. Just sayin'.
2. Good moods lead to good photos. Do whatever you have to do to walk into that studio with happy kids. Feed them before you arrive. Promise a special surprise for after they're done. You get the picture.
3. Don't take it too seriously. If their parents are stressed out, the kids will be stressed out. Just go with the flow and know that the photographer's goal is to get great shots. Let them do their thing!
