Shared Bedrooms for Kids: My daughters share a bedroom and they love being together. (Most of the time!) I recently bought my older daughter a big girl bed and before making that very exciting purchase, I scoured the internet for the best bunk beds and single beds and "pinned" a ton of incredible shared bedrooms to inspire me.
I decided on a Jenny Lind bed for my older daughter (my youngest got her Ikea toddler bed) and I couldn't be happier. I thought a lot about getting bunk beds, but our room is big enough to accommodate two beds and my girls are still very young. (The Consumer Products Safety Commission recommends that children under six not sleep in a top bunk bed.)

Of course, bunk beds are a terrific option for a shared room and there are plenty of styles to choose from. There is something so cozy about having your own bunk. Like sleeping in a cave!
The Perch Bunk Bed has to be every modern furniture lover's dream bunk bed (and that includes me). The Oeuf bunk bed is lower to the ground than most making it safer. Available in birch/white and walnut/white and as a twin-over-twin.
Land of Nod's Simple Bunk Bed is also one of my favorites. I love the fresh, clean look of this bed in natural stain, but it's also available in espresso stain and painted white. The Simple Bunk Bed is available in twin-over-twin and twin-over-full.
If you have a long room, I love the look of two single beds along a wall like in the above room from Sunrise and Mark Ruffalo'??s house in Domino Magazine. You can get a similar look with the ODDA Bed from Ikea.
If you like drop dead gorgeous contemporary furniture, you'll love Room and Board's Moda Bunk Bed. Moda is stocked in all white or with espresso or natural accents. Moda is also available with eight other accent colors (allow extra time) that would really make a room unique. Available in twin-over-twin and twin-over-full. The coordinating furniture is also fabulous, if you like incredibly beautiful modern furniture, that is!
TheEmerson Bunk Bed was designed to look like it was made from salvaged lumber. It looks almost like Stickley furniture to me. (If we had sons, my husband would be all over this bed.) Available in twin-over-twin and full-over-full.
Christina, from Full House, created a dream bedroom for her daughters on a budget. All the furniture was purchased on Craig's List or thrift stores and the sewing was done by her mother. Wow!
Gwynth Paltrow's kids shared this awe-inspiring room, designed by Annette Joseph, temporarily while she was on location. Her bunk bed was from Posh Tots and very pricey, buy you can the look for less by painting Ikea's MYDAL Bunk Bed.
I just saw Ikea's bunk bed in person and it's great looking and a real steal!
Young America's Mix Bunk Bed is available in twenty one colors. The simple design and outstanding quality make this bunk bed ideal for contemporary or traditional bedrooms. Available in twin-over-twin, twin-over-double and double-over double. The coordinating bedroom furniture is also beautiful and colorful.
Shared bedrooms can be as lovely, fabulous and fun as a bedroom for one. I tell my daughters they are lucky to have a sleep over every night!
