How's your underwear drawer looking these days? If the answer is scary, we think you need to head over to ShopUnderwear.com. Elizabeth Tigar, the founder of the site has put together some advice on investing in some grown-up treats for yourself. After all, isn'??t there just something about a sophisticated piece of lingerie that can somehow make you feel especially feminine'??despite the spittle on your shoulder or play dough in your hair?
We'??re all guilty of it. The old pair of boxer shorts, the over-sized tee, the '??comfy pants'?--those articles of clothing that live in our sleepwear drawer and, no matter their tired, tattered or torn condition, we keep reaching for when it'??s time to relax. Not that there'??s anything wrong with the quest for comfort. By all means, whenever possible, I believe a woman should be as comfortable as possible, in her clothing, in her loungewear, in her undergarments and most of all, in her own skin. But being comfortable and looking amazing are not mutually exclusive.
That'??s why, this Mother'??s Day, I say it'??s time to toss those grubby standbys and treat yourself to something that makes you feel like the fabulous, gorgeous woman you are...even if it'??s something you keep under wraps or something you'??ll wear just around the house in front of the kids and the hubby.
We all know how a good outfit can make you feel like a million dollars. Why leave that solely to the clothes you leave the house in? Your loungewear can be as expressive and personal as the rest of your wardrobe.
Why not swap that boxer/t-shirt combo for a new pajama set? We'??re not talking those flannel, footie kind. How about a fitted tank with a flowy pair of pants? Best of all, the newest generation of sleep and loungewear is now made from amazingly soft, stretchy and flattering fabrics that skim the body and breathe and move with you.
Look for something with Modal, a fabric made from bamboo. This special material is especially good at '??climate control,'? keeping you cool as the weather warms up. Worried about getting enough support on top? Make sure your tank has adjustable straps or an interior shelf bra. It'??ll keep you safe and secure even in the event you have to go chasing after a toddler (or a husband).
My personal sleepwear favorite is the chemise. With shorter lengths and more revealing necklines, the chemise is a modern, fun alternative to the nightgown'??you know, that floor-length, high-necked number your mother used to have. It'??s really like a little dress, and what a better way to celebrate your femininity! Chemises run the gamut from sex-pot sheer black lace, to conservative thick knit cotton. Within that range, you'??re sure to find something that fits your style and your body.
Again look for materials that feel good to the touch. And don'??t shy away from synthetics. The old wisdom that synthetic fabrics don'??t breathe is a thing of the past. New technology now renders man-made fibers just as breezy soft, if not more so, than natural ones like cotton or silk. Also, they tend to be less expensive, which is always a plus.
Whatever you choose, be sure it'??s something you will love to wear for YOU. Because ultimately, you are the one who deserves celebrating'??not just this coming Sunday, but everyday.
