You've got to love a job where snacks arrive at your door. That was the case today when I opened my packaged from Sun Chips. They've got new packaging out and a new campaign called Green Effect.
As far as my munching experience, it was good. I love the cheddar flavor and I appreciate that the new Sun Chips bag is made with 33% renewable materials. When I read the label, I am impressed thatthey use sunflower oil and whole wheat...I just wish sugar wasn't so high on the ingredients list. But you can't argue with the taste, the crunch or the kiddie appeal.
I'm also excited that the Sun Chips brand is teaming with NationalGeographic to promote environmental change. They are awarding $20,000 grants to five people or groups with ideas for green change. Get involved by logging on to www.greeneffect.comand submitting your idea for green chnage (hurry, contest ends June 8, 2009). I juststopped by to check out the entries...I love the one titled "Worm Poop in the Classroom" (it's about composting).
To generate buzz for their new projects, Sun Chips is offering up a fun prize to Momtrends readers. You'll get the same goodie package Ireceived: Two bags of full-sized Sun Chips and an eco-friendly mesh shopping bag.
All you need to do to enter is visit the Green Effect site and then come back here and leave a comment about the initiative or tell me if you submitted an idea to the Green Effect contest.
Be sure to add your contact email. Contest open to US residents ages 18 and over. Contest ends 5/30/09. Winner will be selected by random.org. Winners will be announced on a blog post. If winner fails to respond in three days a new winner will be chosen.
