Speed Decorating
It'??s design month, so why not get decorating with Jill Vegas'?? valuable tips to creating a fabulous home in a week or less. We captured the best tips from Jill'??s book, Speed Decorating ($14.95 Amazon), to share with you.
Speed decorating is a step by step, room by room method to transforming a space to a place where you love to live right now. The process examines the form, the function, the look, and the feel of a space in a thoughtful, timely manner. The three-step process including, evaluating the situation, exploring the solutions and taking action, is the foundation for any new design project whether one day or one week.
Here are a few of Jill'??s magic-wand makeover tips for every room that we love.
Make your entrance into an instant style statement with a unique light fixture or some ornamental hooks on the wall for hanging personal items.
Arrange seating in your living room area in terms of groupings: a few pieces that relate to one another and create distinct spaces for activities like conversation, reading and writing. You can have multiple groupings in one room. The TV should NOT be the focal point. Revamp your coffee table with a nice decorative bowl, fresh flowers and 2 or 3 books of the same size and color.
Make the kitchen as welcoming and functional as possible. Fresh flowers, a bowl of fruit, and colorful accents create a lively warm scene. This is invariably where people will gravitate, so make it fun!
Dine with style by adding a chandelier, comfy chairs, candles and fresh flowers in your dining area.

Make a luxurious bedroom where you are guaranteed a good night sleep. If your workspace is in a corner of your bedroom, change it! Get some artwork that is relaxing and tasteful and purchase lighting that is warm, flattering and adjustable. Go for muted colors if you want a relaxing tone and rich colorful fabric for a spicier setting. If space is limited, forgo the nightstand for a tower of books or a chair.
Glamorize your bathroom with a metallic wallpaper or add colorful accessories. Always keep the toilet seat down.
No matter what room you are redesigning you MUST clear the clutter and clean before starting! To find out more about Jill and the Speed Decorating movement visit www.jillvegas.com
