Office Depot is holding a contest called "Project Backpack" for back to school. Here's how it works: Students can go to their local Office Depot and purchase a canvas Office Depot backpack ($14.99 each; available in blue, pink, olive and green khaki, that will include two free individual Sharpie markers of your choice). Students design the backpack using Sharpie markers (or they can download a template of the backpack on www.myprojectbackpack.com). After designing the backpack using Sharpie markers, participants can upload a photo or scanned image of their backpack to www.myprojectbackpack.com along with their official entry form.
Participants can win $10,000 in prizes and the grand prize winner will have their design sold in Office Depot stores nationwide for the 2010 back to school season. Now that's something to put on the college application.
Entries must be received by 11:59 pm CDT on September 19, 2009. A panel of judges will select the top ten finalists whose designs will be posted back to www.myprojectbackpack.com where the public will vote on the official winner. For more information, visit www.myprojectbackpack.com. And I suggest also checking out the Sharpie site for creative ways to color--just don't let your toddlers see this or they may get some idea about taking Sharpies to the walls!
