We just moved into a new brownstone and the girls couldn't be happier. Nope this wasn't a million dollar real estate transaction. It's from Our Children's Gorilla. Our Children's Gorilla dreamed up this green version of a dollhouse made of flat packed, recyclable cardboard. The authentic brownstone has a store on the first floor and then pop-out windows above the shop. We come up with all sorts of creative scenarios for our house. We added Lego furniture and throw lots of wild parties in this house (funny the neighbors never complain). The house measures 23.5 x 11.8 x 14.5" and is very sturdy. There's also a Firehouse version--a guaranteed hit with most boys. I love that this is a backdrop for imaginative play and it's also great for the environment--no batteries, no plastic. Simply set up and make it your own. $49.95 on Babesta.com
While the older daughter is busy playing house in her brownstone, the baby has been fascinated with her new vehicles from Plan Toys. Mostly she is fascinated with the Mini Garbage Truck from PlanToys. The truck is part of Plan's Preschool line--amazing kid-powered toys to fuel early learning. We love loading and unloading the truck and I am already teaching her about recycling.
PlanToys practices the "Three R's" of green living: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle." Here's how they create these gorgeous toys. They start with organic rubberwood, hold them together with non-toxic e-zero glue, color them with water-based dye and package them in recycled and recyclable material printed with soy ink. Nice work Plan! Buy it: Plan Toys Wooden Mini Garbage Truck ($21.99). My little girl doesn't care yet that her truck is made with care. She simply adores the chunky feel and solid construction (our trucks tend to crash..A LOT).
Win it! One lucky reader is going to win two wooden Plan Preschool Toys. To enter visit this page to see the full offering of Plan Preschool Toys, come back here and leave a comment on which is your favorite preschool toy.
