My mother is undoubtedly cringing at the new trend in kiddie design--black clothing. Black is the cool color of choice for hipster design companies. These modern collections won't appeal to everyone, but if you are a rock star at heart read on...
1. Rebel Ink comes from St. Paul. The tongue-in cheek fashions sport sassy sayings like: Party tonight my crib at 3 am. Sizes 0-24 mos. $24 For too-cool toddlers there's the I (heart) my Gay Uncle. $18
2. Can't bear to dress your little girl in all black? Here's a compromise from Tu for Tee. A black tank with built-in tutu. The hibiscus tank (see pic at top) has a hot-pink tulle trim--the perfect amount of girliness to offset a serious color. Girls 6 mos to size 8 will no doubt like tossing this over a swimsuit or wearing it over leggings. $40
3. My favorite remains the collection from Karina at Sorrymum. She's a momtrepeneur from Norway with a knack for black. Her one-piece suits fit great (nice and slim) and definitely make a tot stand out from the pink and blue crowd.
