In the spirit of Christmas, we're sharing the story of The Best Gift I Ever Gave. No it wasn't a shiny new Mercedes or Yankeees season tickets. The best gift I ever gave was a bungy jump off the Kawarau Bridge in New Zealand.
Like all good stories, this is a long one. The abridged version: I took an overseas adventure with my then boyfriend (now husband) around the world in 2003. I was recently divorced and still learning to trust myself and love again. On our first stop on what would be a 22-country trip, we landed in New Zealand. This country is quite famous for its natural spleandor and its outdoor adventures.
For Christmas, Mr. Momtrends and I gave each other a leap of faith--a 43m bungy jump. As successful 30+ professionals it was a pretty big gamble to leave our jobs and families behind for a year of travel. If we were still clinging to any of our past lives, we thought this act of freedom and trust would surely be the symbollic gift we needed to start our trip. It just so happened that it was Christmastime in New Zealand--so we had the perfect excuse to give each other the gift of adrenaline and bliss.
No, we haven't jumped since then. And haven't needed to. That jump served its purpose. Leaving it all behind on the bridge was just the beginning.
While my trip was astounding, I know that other gifts are equally meaningful. And that's where Swagg comes in. It's an app for Droid and iPhone that organizes all your gift cards in one spot. And now is the perfect time to test it out. The download is free and will help you make sure you make the most of all your Christmas SWAGG.
