Tick-tock. The countdown has begun. Have you tackled the school supply list yet? We've got three ideas for you.
As for new stuff (and let's admit it--we do love new stuff). Spice up the BTS selection with whimsical treats from Little Miss Matched. I've already packed my daughter's Zany Pencil Pouch ($10) and stuffed it in her backpack. For me, I'm jotting my to-do list in a kicky Dotted Notebook ($8). Yes, tweens would love this item with 3D texture--but moms crave cool gear too. And let's not forget turning sneakers into a style statement with Miss Matched laces (3 for $7).

In her new book, Eco-Friendly Families author Helen Coronato helps readers make eco-conscious decisions, teaching children the world is their extended family. ($10.85) Though the book isn't specific to the school year, Coronato did have some tips for us. According to Coronato, "New isn't necessary." Here BTS ideas include:
- "Have on Hand Policeman" '?? children patrol their homes for school supplies in the office, bedrooms and kitchen.
- Egg carton eco-ideas. Egg cartons are a great place to stash small supplies, such as paperclips.
- Hold a swap with other local families. Your cast-offs are another family's keepers!
