Mommy's Reading List

Here's the reading list I've put together for the next year. That's right. Time to buy myself just what I want for Christmas. After all, it's time for 2009 resolutions. Mine is to improve my reading list and not let my mind turn to mush. Once upon a time I was an English major so I've always been keen on a great read. Now that I'm a mom I've got far less time than my co-ed days, but mommy has to stay sharp to set a good example.

So here is my 2009 list:

I heard an amazing review for Olive Kitteridge on NPR today by Melissa Bank (author of A Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing--a favorite of mine).

I loved Interpreter of Maladies and The Namesake and I've got to get the latest from Indian-American author JhumpaLahiri called Unaccustomed Earth.

Two respected sources (The Economist and the WSJ) recommended Lush Life: A Novel
by Richard Price, so on the list it goes. It's all about NYC (my city) and it's excesses wrapped in a mystery.

For non-fiction, I'm after Audition: A Memoirby Barbara Walters and the new book about the artist Marc Chagall Chagall: A Biography.

Pretty ambitious to be sure. Before I launch into January's fitness focus I'd love to know what's on your reading list? And what it your resolution for 2009?
