#MomBossBook Tour in Chicago

#MomBossBook Tour in Chicago

Mom Boss is a book meant to inspire the next wave of mom entrepreneurs. I want to recap the #MomBossBook tour in Chicago. I spent four years living in Chicago, it's kind my second home. When we kicked off the Mom Boss book tour, I knew the Windy City would be a top destination on the trip.

I planned a whirlwind trip. First stop was a luncheon at the flagship American Girl store on Michigan Avenue. You know my girls and I love all things American Girl (my 8 year old just reviewed the precious Melody doll), the brand is one that I'm so proud to partner with. They generously hosted our luncheon for our Chicago blog friends.

Our event was sharing resources and growth. Holly Rust is a top Rodan + Fields consultant, she was also featured in the Mom Boss book. Holly told her story--how she left corporate America to focus on family. Holly needed to replace her income and created a freelance writing career and a thriving Rodan + Fields business. Now she's surpassed her income that she used to make and has created a life she loves. Holly gets to spend oodles of time with her boys and runs a vibrant business.

Holly, the ultimate Team Mom, knows how to work her network. She shared tips on mining LinkedIn for opportunities and talked about the options out there for direct selling. You can check out her writing here: http://www.mothersguidetosanity.com/

#MomBossBook Tour in Chicago

There are so many things to love about the blogging industry. I've built my brand thanks to the online community of moms. Along the way, I've met some amazing blogging friends. And I always love connecting with them IRL. Alison, Kristin, Betsey and Emily have been friends for years. Maria and Amber are newer friends, and I just loved how everyone opened up and shared best practices. I'm constantly blown away be the generosity of my friends.

Thanks Maria for the love and support (check out Maria's blog here www.asavingswow.com). We had a gorgeous lunch, American Girl cafe starts everyone off with crudite and warm sticky buns, then there are excellent salads, and don't miss the quiche. Dessert is always mousse and cookies. Yum!

The next day was a book signing at the Book Market in Glenview. Holly joined me again and we also had the lovely Melinda Blake, a north shore designer who is also featured in the book. We had an intimate conversation and book signing. I'm always thrilled that women want to spend time with me, hear my story and talk about growing a brand.

It's a true gift to get to travel and meet all these amazing women. Next stop is Baltimore for an event at the JCC and then a book signing at the Barnes & Noble in Tyson's Corner and then TWO events in Annapolis. To get all the scoop, visit the Mom Boss Book page here.
