You might have guessed that I am MAJOR Francophile. So it is little wonder I adore Madeline. This year the beloved little school girl in the yellow hat turns 70. Ludwig Bemelmans was responsible for dreaming up this spunky little girl who heads off to boarding school with eleven friends and a sweet nun. The simple prose and gorgeous pictures have won millions of fans.
The books record her escapades in and around Paris (inlcuding The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur and more). If you haven't added these books to your child's library I highly recommend you do so soon. You can re-order the Madeline, Reissue of 1939 edition on Amazon a perfect post-Christmas treat. To celebrate the anniversary, bring a Dressable 13.5" Madeline doll into the family. Madeline comes dressed in her signature blue school coat and yellow hat. Additional outfits are available at LiveandLearn.com.
After all our gifts were opened on Christmas, this doll and the book stole my daughter's heart.
