When disaster strikes, the reaction is to help. That was certainly the case with Haiti. After the initial flood of funds and relief, what happens next? How do you rebuild a country? The devastating earthquake of January 2010 has made it virtually impossible for Haitians to make a living. But the artistic energy lives on. Macy's is teaming up with Haitian artists to bring handcrafted masterpieces to American shoppers through the Heart of Haiti shop online. And it's working. Artisans receive 22% of the retail price for each item in the collection.

This initiative offers the first sustainable income since the earthquake, enabling artisans to repair homes, pay school fees and feed and clothe their families. With steady income comes better nutrition, improved education and access to healthcare. We're thrilled to help spread the word and to shop for a cause. The collection is colorful and check out our top two picks:

Heart of Haiti Pendant, Heart of the Goddess Hello, Valentine's Day is right around the corner. This chic necklace is made of recycled metal for a rough-hewn beauty. ($10)

Heart of Haiti Bowl, Agwe ($45) Made from recycled oil drums we love the modern look of this 7" bowl. They call it "industrial-cool" we call it a conversation starter and gorgeous centerpiece.
