Finding the right book for toddlers can be tricky. They are beyond baby, one-word, board books, but not ready for elaborate picture books. We've found a bedtime favorite with Good Night New York City (Good Night Our World series). You don't have to live in the Big Apple to get in on this literary action. There are dozens of cities (from Seattle to the Florida Keys) and states to make your night-time ritual personal.
Out of our window we can see the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge. So saying good night to these icons in the bedtime story is a treat. I won't say the illustrations are award-winning. That's not what the books are about. They do a great job of identifying icons that kids will remember and relate to and creating a short, zippy tale. The NYC one has taxi cabs, hot dog vendors and a dinosaur from the Natural History Museum--all things my kids know and love.
The Good Night Our World series is carried on Amazon and in local stores. These books make great stocking stuffers and are recommended by Momtrends for children 1-3 years.
