Birthdays are a big deal in our house…and that’s probably because my mom always made them super special for me when I was growing up. As with most of the family traditions that she started with me and my sister, I’ve wanted to make my kids’ birthdays something they look forward to each and every year. Gifts, obviously, play a big role in birthday fun, but they don’t necessarily have to be toys. Sure, kids love toys. Heck, I love toys. That being said, I’m a fan of giving my kids non-typical birthday gifts and experiences.
One way of doing that is to give them the gift of a book. For as long as I can remember, my mom has given me a book on my birthday, and I’ve loved each and every one. Every time I open one of those birthday books, I think about my mom. I’m hoping the same can be said for my own kids when they read the books I’ve given them. So, I’ve made it my mission to give them each a book on their birthday and I just found a fun way to do that and then some. Thanks to the brand-new gift shop from Brightly, a website that helps parents raise lifelong readers, I can gift my kids a fun-filled birthday package that’s filled with items to help them make all kinds of memories.
Brightly’s specially curated boxes are designed for all sorts of happy occasions. Looking for a baby shower gift? There’s a box for that. Want to treat your best friend? You guessed it...There’s a box for that. But let’s get back to birthdays. Their Have a Happy Birthday Box, perfect for kids ages 4 - 7, is filled not only with books, but activities and keepsakes that will have your kids looking back fondly on birthdays past for years to come. My daughter, for one, has yet to meet a craft she didn’t love, so the paint brush pens and picture frame that she could decorate was right up her alley. And, frankly, mama will cherish it long past the time she has lost interest in it. So, I guess the Have a Happy Birthday Box is a memory maker for me too!
