What inspired you to write Best Day Ever?
The main character, Paul, popped into my mind one day and demanded to tell his story. I know that sounds weird, but it’s true. While in the midst of edits for a women’s fiction series, I had to put it aside for him. I believe he may be a result of a long line of horrible bosses I’ve endured during my career. I’m not entirely sure where he came from, but once he arrived, there was no stopping him.
What kind of marriage and family life do Paul and Mia Strom have?
Paul and Mia’s marriage has disintegrated to such a degree that everything is pretense. To the outside world, their life together is perfect: big home, two young sons, gorgeous suburb. But behind closed doors everything is not what it seems. Unfortunately, there are far too many Paul and Mia relationships out there. Life is so short.
When Paul suggests a romantic weekend alone with Mia at their lake house, how does she react?
She’s already packing for their getaway when we meet them, so she seems to be ok with the idea. But you never know with Mia. She keeps her emotions close to her chest.

How does the car ride set the tone for the weekend getaway?
The car ride is the first time the two of them have been alone together, aside from sleeping in the same bed, for a long time. The tone of the car ride is the tone of the weekend. Tension is pinging off every surface. I hope you can feel it as you read their story.
Are you currently at work on your next novel? If so, what may you share with us?
I am currently working on my next novel and it will be a psychological suspense novel in the vein of BEST DAY EVER. It isn’t a sequel to this story, but Paul would not mind one of those someday.
