Today it is happening. I'm co-hosting the 2nd Annual Fashion Forward Conference with Audrey McClelland , Vera Sweeney and Brooke Stewart. We kick things off on the red carpet at 10am with BetterTV. I'll be sure to share segment times. If you are going to the conference, I can't wait to see you! If you can't make it, follow the hashtag #fashforward on Twitter and Instagram (you can find me @momtrends).
The day will be a celebration of style. Of course, we'll take a moment to observe the anniversary of 9/11. Our hearts go out to all the families that lost a loved one. As I peer out my window (I'm writing this at 2am) and see the two beacons of light where the towers were, I know our day is a little bitter sweet. But in the resilient spirit of New Yorkers, we move forward with pluck and spirit.
Fashion week goes on. This year there are even more exciting things in store--more content, more tips and more engagement. We dreamed this day up as a way to shake things up. I've been to the other fashion conferences and I love a good thick September issue. But time and again I ask: Where is our voice?
Where are the fabulous women with mortgages, careers and yes..kids. I believe you can have all these things and still possess loads of style. We were missing from the runway and we were missing from the conference scene. That is why Fashion Forward was born.
We don't fit a mold ladies. In fact we broke the mold. Years ago, when there was no platform for stylish thirty somethings so we created our own communities. We shot our own spreads. We film our own videos. And now we have our own conference.
Today we are aiming for those moments where you just have to grab your phone, laptop or ipad to share a tip or quite on social media. It's going to be a juicy day packed with amazing speakers and flashy fashion.
What to expect:
- Engagement from brands that value you.
- To be inspired to create better content. Including tweets, photos and videos.
- To be challenged to get your business to the next level by our esteemed speakers.
- To be comfortable with the uncomfortable. Maybe its a plus sized woman posting fashion pictures or a camera shy woman taking on vlogging assignments, we want you to try something new. As Tina Fey says...
