Build-A-Bear for St. Jude

Build-A-Bear Workshop recently announced it's partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for the launch of its '??Cause for Celebration'? Parties. My daughter and I were lucky enough to kick off the celebration at the Build-A-Bear Workshop in New York City with Marlo Thomas, National Outreach Director for St. Jude and Maxine Clark, Founder and Chief Executive Bear of Build-A-Bear Workshop.

St. Jude patients who reached a significant milestone in their treatment and their family members were welcomed at the Fifth Avenue store with a great big bear hug from Bearemy, the loveable Build-A-Bear mascot as well as friendly staff from both St. Jude and Build-A-Bear.

The party was a great start for the Cause for Celebration Program which allows customers to make a $10 donation to St. Jude when they book a '??Cause for Celebration'? party at any store location. The entire $10 will go to St. Jude to support lifesaving research and treatment. Throughout March, guests can also support the hospital by donating one dollar (or more) when they check out at all Build-A-Bear Workshop retail locations in the United States, at, or by purchasing purple satin hearts in Canada.

"It really is a cause for celebration because Build-A-Bear is a great partner for St. Jude because they serve the whole country, they are making family and children happy and have this wonderful creative experience. We [St. Jude] serve children and family all over the country. It's really about bringing joy and happiness to children." says Thomas.

The program allows families to give back while celebrating and having fun. "Sometimes moms are looking for other things to do that aren't always about the child that might be about somebody else, besides the child. Having a birthday party at build a bear is a fun experience that is great and it can also be a chance to give back." says Clark.

Everyone that attended the event yesterday was able to "build" a special St. Jude Bear to commemorate the event. For each Bear that was made during the event, Build-A-Bear Workshop donated a gift card to the children of St. Jude.
