Were all staring down the barrel of a potential beach destination for April vacation. I know, the concept of bathing suit has been packed away for a while, in both brain and box.
But here it is again, worrying you into a whirlwind. Are you ready for the bathing suit? Have you been hitting the self-tanner? And looking polished and pretty at the beach is almost impossible. Youre sweaty. Youre caked with sand. You may or may not have a wedgie. It just seems like a challenging proposition.
Until international make-up artist Jemma Kidd gave me these easy tips for beach-bound beauty.
For your Body: Mix a little body shimmer into sunscreen to prevent skin from looking dull. (Try: Nars Body Glow)
For the Eyes: Line the upper lash line with dark brown pencil for definition. Apply a shimmery peach eye shadow from the upper lash line to the socket crease. Add a little shimmer under the lower lash line using a gold eyeliner pencil (sparingly...you aren't a Solid Gold dancer). Apply dark brown waterproof mascara. (Try: Sephoras Jumbo Liner 12HR Wear Waterproof in Gold; and Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color in Lingerie or Buillon)
For Lips: Use a hydrating lip balm with a nude shimmering finish and high SPF to protect lips and keep them feeling moist despite sea spray and sun. Nude/brown tones are more flattering with a tan than red. (Try: Freshs popular Sugar Honey Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15)
For Face: Apply sunscreen and blend a sheer tinted moisturizer on top. Bring a natural flush to your cheeks by smoothing on pink cheek stain, which is water-resistant and will last longer than cream blush. (Try: Laura Merciers Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 - Oil Free and Josie Maran's Magic Marker Lip & Cheek Stain - but be careful putting this one on...it requires a test run since it's hard to control)
Now you can face that beach trip with confidence. But you're on your own with your wedgie.
