Beauty & Beyond: The Top Scrubs for a Spring Glow

OK, so you’re a tough girl. And I applaud you. Although a good personality trait, “thick skinned” is anything but glamorous when it comes to your face and body. Winter brings just that—thick patches of dead cells that dull your complexion. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate—it’s the key to supporting cell turnover for healthier glowing skin.

To uncover a fresh you, think of scrubs as springtime must-haves. Reserved for twice a week use, scrubs gently slough off your dry winter woes, increase skin circulation and give you an extra beauty boost of beauty.

For a dewy glow, choose a dissolving scrub (sugar or salt work best) and rub in gentle circles onto dry skin before hitting the shower. Your body will become the perfect canvas for things like anti-aging serums, SPF and moisturizers, hair removal will go smoother, and self-tanners will be more even.

The Best Overnight French Toast Recipe

We've hit the winter lull--that lengthy stretch of season with no plans, no parties, nothing to do, and nowhere to go. I have to admit that at first, I welcomed the quiet obligation-free weekends of January. After the nonstop hustle-bustle pace of November and December, my family more

La Prairie Cellular Microdermabrasion Cream (, $400)--The hefty price tag is because this is true beauty bling. Think micronized diamonds, fresh water pearls and quartz crystals blended together into a texturized cream. It comes with several applicators for whichever area is being exfoliated after cleansing.

Bobbi Brown Buffing Grains (, $42)--No need to add a step to your morning routine. Instead add these luxurious grains made of Japanese adzuki bean powder to your favorite cleanser to create a customized, gentle exfoliator.

The Lip Scrub by Sara Happ (, $20)--To regain luscious lips, exfoliate dry lips weekly with this sugary lip scrub to remove dead skin (which makes your lips look rough and your lipstick cakey). It comes in tasty flavors like peppermint, crème brulee, the original brown sugar, green apple, vanilla bean, red velvet and blood orange.

For the Body

Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish (Sephora, $65)--This is one of the originals that captured our attention. Pioneers in the use of sugar for beauty, their Brown Sugar Body Polish is pure brown sugar blended with oils like sweet almond, apricot, evening primrose, bergamot and more.

Bliss Hot Salt Scrub (, $38)--This luxurious scrub is a self-heating gel full of Dead Sea salt grains for spa-strength smoothing action. It warms as you rub, loosening up stressed and tightened muscles, so you’re soothing while sloughing. The eucalyptus, rosemary and lavender essential oils blast your senses with a tingling aroma.

Lush Ocean Salt (, $35.95)--This invigorating treat has fresh avocado and coconut to hydrate thirsty skin, and lime and vodka for antibacterial effects against blocked pores and blackheads. The combo of coarse and fine sea salt scrubs away dirt and grime. Although it’s supposed to be for the face, I use it everywhere.
