Becoming a mother is such a rewarding and special time. Not only it is life changing, for me it is profoundly the most incredibly humbling and heart warming feeling one can experience. To celebrate the birth of our newest addition, friends and family have showered with me gifts for our little girl. (You can read more about these in my gift guide for baby, HERE.) But I wanted to share some of the special gifts that a new mama would appreciate, ones that are just for her.
Aden & Anais: Irregular sleep is all part of being a new parent. I often find myself on the couch, ready at a moment's notice to feed our daughter. To make this space more comfy and cozy, I have been snuggling up with the yummiest (and most stylish) blanket from Aden + Anais. Haven't you ever thought to yourself, "I wish they made something as soft for me as they do for my baby?" Well the savvy designers at Aden + Anais have done just that when they created the uber soft and comfortable daydream blanket. I swear it gets cozier and cozier each time I wash it, and the generous size lets hubby get a snuggle in without leaving one of us out in the cold. Available in four smart styles to suit any decor, this four layers of luxurious muslin will keep you warm, bundled and set for an afternoon nap or late night movie marathon. (Retails for $149.95)
BelaBumBum: One of my favorite brands for luxe maternity and nursing pajamas has got to be belabumbum. Everything they offer is full of femininity, attention to small details, and incredibly comfortable. For breastfeeding mamas finding a lightly supportive nursing bra to sleep in can be quite difficult. The bamboo sleep bra from Belabumbum is just what I was looking for. It is comfortable, made of a soft, breathable material, offers just the right amount of light support and has a racerback that doesn't irritate me when I sleep. I also noted that breastpads stay in place (and are discreetly tucked in). The Belabumbum bamboo sleep bra is the perfect gift for a new mama and comes in six attractive colors. (Retails for $38)
Belli Skincare: A new mom's skin goes through tremendous changes after giving birth. Belli Skincare offers a safe (free of parabens, BPA, phthalates and artificial dyes) skin care regime for two of the biggest post pregnancy concerns-stretchmarks and slackened skin. (I love that even the new tubes and airless pumps are also BPA and phthalate-free.) The Belli Skincare Belli's >Body Bounce Back Kit includes a Body Firming Serum and a Stretchmark Minimizing Cream. The Body Firming Serum provides an advanced serum that improves the tone and appearance of stretched skin by providing skin with a mega dose of revitalizing ingredients such as shiitake mushroom & pumpkin seedcake. This serum is also rich in antioxidants & skin-fortfying peptides. The Stretchmark Minimzing Cream is specially formulated to decrease the appearance of existing stretch marks of any age. The cream contains darutoside and registril, ingredients that are scientifically reported to visibly reduce the appearance of stretch marks depth & length. The skin softening avocado works to moisturize skin, while ginseng helps even out skin tone. Giving a new mama a Belli Skincare Set gives her a chance to take care of herself (even for five minutes!) is just the type of mommy time out she'll be craving. (Gift Set retails for $69.99)
Belly Bandit: One of the most common irks you hear postpartum women speaking about is how they can't wait to get their prepregnancy body back. I have to say, as a third time mama, this was definitely a concern of mine. I have been wearing the Organic by Rosie Pope for Belly Bandit and I can tell you, it is working hard to slim me down! I was surprised to learn that I could wear the Belly Bandit wrap after a cesarean section (and without pain!~ I chose to wait about 10 days) to help support my posture and shrink my belly, waist and hips. The Belly Bandit postpartum wrap uses propriety Stretch and Compress fabrics to help you look slimmer in an instant, lose inches faster, and even provides back, leg and core muscle support. I love that it is made with organic cotton, gives me the structure and support I need (an added bonus to a breastfeeding mom) while helping to get me back to my prepregnancy self. and as a Shades of Pink participant (The mission of the Shades of Pink Foundation is to provide temporary financial assistance to women who are experiencing financial distress as a result of a breast cancer diagnosis.), it is a gift that keeps on giving to women in need. (Organic by Rosie Pope retails for $70)
Bliss Living: Hand Stamped Jewelry is all the rage, and to me, there's nothing like receiving a personalized gift. For a gift to celebrate our newest "B", my husband presented me with a precious necklace designed especially for me from Bliss Living Jewelry. Made in the USA, Bliss Living Jewelry has a huge selection of jewelry from which to choose, and then you can personalize it any way that suits you.
Gift Certificate: One of the best gifts I received was a grocery gift certificate. (Not my fanciest gift but definitely one that I appreciated tremendously!) As a new mom, I am just getting back into the swing of things, adjusting to being a family of five. But with two older children, and their schedules to keep up with, I struggled a bit getting meals on the table that were up to my nutritional standards. Enter Peapod. I have used this service weekly since our daughter was born and it has enabled me to get the groceries I needed delivered right to my door (they'll even bring them in!). I was able to make quick, nutritious (organic) food in no time because I didn't have to spend time shopping. I loved that it saves my previous orders, and I get coupon codes all the time for free delivery or a % off. They don't deliver to every area, but most areas have grocery delivery service or at least the option to shop online and the store will have your order ready to pick up and pay when you arrive. Either option is tremendously helpful to a new parent and I still do a little happy dance when I see the truck pull up~it's the little things!
Vera Bradley: With a big diaper bag and stroller to tow, I really wanted a place to store my phone without having to put in my my baby's car seat when I had to run and do a quick errand. Nothing I found fit the bill quite like this Smartphone wristlet from Vera Bradley. It is larger than most wristlets, allows my iPhone to fit (even in the bulky Otterbox case) all while providing quick, and easy access to coins, credit cards, bills and even my ID. It is the perfect solution that I can grab and go all by itself. When I need all of my gear, it fits in neatly to my diaper bag still leaving my essentials neat, and accessible. It is available in 19 pretty patterns and retails for just under $50.
