MoMA Re-Opens Kids' Space

Image placeholder title

MoMA's new kid-friendly space is open and ready for your visit. This go-round they call it the Material Lab--as always the annex space near the movie theaters is a family-friendly environment where children and adults can explore, engage, and create.

Your kids are going to love getting their hands on the Microsoft Digital Art Technology Preview, a realistic painting application that engages users in a digital painting experience that offers a multitude of colors, tools, and canvases. Other stations in the lab include Discovery Boxes inspired by works of artists and designers in the Museum’s collection, a collage and assemblage table, and a found objects activity inspired by the work of artist Joseph Cornell.

Plus there's a collage/assemblage table where young visitors are invited to create works of art that they can take home, such as a collage of a musical instrument inspired by artworks in Picasso: Guitars 1912-1914, a drawing table and a light table.

Stop by before or after visiting MoMA’s galleries! Material Lab is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, 10:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; Friday, 10:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m. Free with Museum admission.
