Real Kids Shades: Cool Sunglasses for Kids: My daughter has these horrible little plastic sunglasses. They just look like they'e going to snap off her head. I'm not even sure if they have any actual sun protection. But they have achieved super cool status with her because of their hot pink color, the tiny Belle on the side, and the fact that they turn the entire world pink. I can't get them away from her.
That is until she saw the RKS shades. Standing for Real Kids Shades, these are some real cool sunglasses. Not toys. Not fashion accessories, although they're crazy fashionable.
Although most kids' sunglasses have darkened lens, they still don't protect their peepers. Shading lenses without 100% UVA/UVB protection will actually relax pupils, causing them to dilate and let more harmful radiation into their eyes. RKS's shatterproof lens boast UV400 Category-3 Reno Lenses. That translates to blocking 100% of the sun's harmful rays in shaded lens. They're so good that they've received the Melanoma International Foundation Seal of Approval.
For comfort, they are top notch with foam-backed, lightweight Xylex frames made of an ultra lightweight and extremely impact-resistant polymer. So there's no more arguing that "these are too tight" or "these are too heavy."
They have sunglasses for all ages, from infant all the way up to your big kid of 12 in tons of styles and colors. Recently they launched the Fabulous collection for girls 7-12, because fab personalities need fab sun protection. They're stylishly oversized for
blocking UV radiation and, if you're Suri Cruise, paparazzi camera flashes. Boys love the new Blade collection, for an extra edgy look.
The Xtreme Convertible, part of the Gear collection and seen above, were the perfect fit for our daughter because, like most kids, she chills and then runs and then chills. This style'??s patented quick-lock tables convert from bands to rubber grip temples and back in seconds. So she can relax on the beach (for five seconds), then run around with the no-slip temple band. And forget the princesses. The red color is much cooler (this style also comes in blue, silver and white).
When it comes to quality sunglasses, I'm happy she's finally seen the light. Or not seen it. Whatever.
The RKS Xtreme Convertible sunglasses are available for realkidshades.com for $39.99.
