Let’s face it…Back to school time can be stressful for us mamas. We may have survived the back to school supplies and clothes shopping mania, but now that our precious cherubs are back in class, we’ve been plunged head first into homework, after school activities and the like. Let me tell…I’m BEAT already! Sure, it’s great to be able to drink a cup of coffee in blissful silence after I drop them off in the morning, but beyond that I’m on the run most of the week, as I’m sure most of you are too, and that means it’s important for us to remember to take time out for that oh so vital me time or, back-to-wine time as I like to call it. Bwah! The first step toward back-to-wine time is to pick yourself up a bottle or two of JaM Cabernet and/or Butter Chardonnay! And the best news about these particular wines? They’re UNDER $20 and sold in a store right near you, but I digress…
I actually recently kicked up my feet and opened up a nice of bottle JaM Cellars Cabernet for a little decompressing action with one of my favorite reality tv shows. Hey, we all need our guilty pleasures and wine and reality tv just happen to be two of mine. And so is cheese actually. Brie to be specific. There is nothing like slicing up a crusty baguette and nibbling on that while sipping on a glass of vino. If you’re feeling frisky, you can whip up my family’s go-to baked brie topped with caramelized chopped walnuts to go with your wine and tv sesh like I did…
1 Brie round
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
2 tbs butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1. Bake the brie on a cookie sheet for 15 minutes at 325 degrees.
2. In a saucepan, melt the butter, brown sugar and walnuts.
3. Poor the melted mixture over the brie and serve with apples and/or crackers for dipping.
4. Now it’s time to nosh and, most importantly, enjoy your glass of JaM Cabernet.
But then again, the Butter Chardonnay would be quite delish too. It simply melts in your mouth. You can see the reviews for Butter Chardonnay on JaMCellars.com if you need some convincing. I’m guessing I’m not going to have to twist your arm to try it though. Just a hunch.
I just happen to be a red wine kinda girl, hence my JaM Cabernet preference. With delightful tasting notes like blackberries, black plums, black currant, cassis and more, this cab does not disappoint. Back to wine time was just what this mama needed to reset and get ready for another jam packed school week. Don’t get me wrong, fall is my favorite time of the year. Let’s just say that I subscribe to the pumpkin EVERYTHING philosophy, but my weekly wine dates with myself are just the sanity saver treat I need to tackle this back to school season with everything I’ve got!
