I say fashion is about wearing what you feel great in. I also love experimenting. I’m always inspired by looking at Instagram and taking in what women are wearing, as I am out and about and traveling.

I’ve always loved scarves, and this kimono trend reminds me of wearing a big scarf. You’ve got to be a little bold and playful to make this work. But, please, don’t overthink it.

I loved this kimono I found on Amazon fashion. I wasn’t going to spend a bundle on this trend, so I was happy to find something under $20. The price is absolutely right!

Putting it Together

The outfit is pretty simple. Favorite sandals from cabi clothing, a kids tee from H&M, cropped cabi jeans and a necklace I got at TJMaxx a few years ago. Then I layered on this long robe, and let it flap in the breeze.

In total, we’ve got three basic items (top, jeans and sandals) with the flair coming from the necklace and the kimono top. I wore this outfit to work, I wanted flats on because I knew I would be walking a ton. But I adore wearing this boho chic outfit with strappy heels too. Heels add to the drama of the whole look.

The Setting

I wore this outfit for birthday drinks out with the girls. We went to the new one hotel in DUMBO and got great seats at the rooftop bar. The evening was perfect – sublime weather and great people-watching. We shared a bottle of rosé and toasted my girlfriend’s 30th birthday.

It’s a great spot for cocktails and sunset watching – add it to your list when you visit Brooklyn.

As a Mom Boss, I think clothing has the power to make us feel confident and pulled together. Do you try new trends or stick with what works for you?

Thought of a great book you ladies would love. Did you know the plural of kimono is kimono? I learned this fact from Baltimore author Sujata Massey’ s “The Bride’s Kimono.” The setting is Tokoyo and Washington, DC ! This book is part of a fun mystery series.
