Plaid is everywhere right now. It’s one of the hottest trends around. Let’s talk about how to style plaid without looking like a grunge rocker or a lumberjack. I wanted to participate in the trend without looking like a fashion victim. I’m at a great age, where I can still try everything, I just have to be smart about working the trends.
The plaid dress is from TANGO, a Brooklyn boutique. It’s from rag & bone/JEAN (and is on sale right now at Nordstrom in case you don’t live in Brooklyn! The tie is built in, trust me, this dress is not hard to put on. It’s easy to wear and perfect for RIGHT NOW.
Everyone has been stopping me in Brooklyn to talk about these shoes. The VIONIC Upright Faros Fringe booties make everyone look. They are from Vionic (yes, the brand known for putting comfort first). Well, these aren’t just comfy, they are also right on trend. Fringe + studs = awesome.
I have put MILES on these shoes–they are sublimely supportive. Get them at zappos.
The bag is a few seasons old. It’s the Raw Sugar Gabriel Fold Over Clutch from Alex & Ani and I love pulling this one out in the fall. The rich hunter green isn’t available any more, but they have a great butterscotch color I think you’ll love.
How to Style Plaid
A little goes a long way. Wear just one piece of plaid.
Pick neutral accessories to make the plaid pop.
Go for interesting silhouettes, a plaid shirt is obvious. This dress is a little unexpected, as would be a great plaid tote.
That’s my fashion advice. Are you planning to wear plaid this season? How are you going to style it?
