I have know about Anne Geddes far before I was a mom. Her iconic images of newborn babies that are beautifully incorporated within elements in nature – images that capture the pure innocence and wonder that has touched the hearts of millions for over 30 years. Now she has a new treat, the Anne Geddes Pregnancy Magazine.
Anne, a mom of two herself, recently introduced her captivating new pregnancy project my Pregnancy: A Woman’s Story to the U.S, a magazine that follows the diverse and heartwarming narratives of pregnancy and new motherhood. In a rare appearance, I had the chance to chat with Anne and preview the book at the Destination Maternity store and learn all about the breathtaking photography that followed nine women’s intimate and emotional interviews about their pregnancies, the births of their babies, and beyond.
I was immediately struck by her warm and inviting demeanor as she went through the details and the stories of the women highlighted and photographed throughout the book. Anne noted that she hopes to bring to light the truly universal story of motherhood. She also explained how she picked women from all walks of life, all in their final months of pregnancy as well as when their babies were born to openly share their unique birth stories.
Filled with heartwarming stories and illustrated with personal photographs of each woman and behind-the-scenes imagery from Anne’s studio, I loved seeing how elements of nature were composed to explore themes of new motherhood, love and life.
Annie stated, “my Pregnancy shares rich, diverse stories that all women should hear. Women are great storytellers, so I’m sure you’ll be able to identify with all of them. I couldn’t be more pleased to share my Pregnancy with the women at Destination Maternity, a company that fully embraces and cherishes pregnant women.”
My Pregnancy will be sold exclusively at Destination Maternity, A Pea in the Pod®, and Motherhood Maternity® stores in the United States and Canada, and online at www.destinationmaternity.com, www.apeainthepod.com, and www.motherhood.com.
