Can you think of a better way to celebrate Earth Day than by doing the laundry? Yeah, me neither. So that’s why I’m sitting here doing some of the mountains of mine right now. But at least I’m using Vaska’s earth-friendly detergent, or as they call it, Herbatergent ‘?¢. Vaska is a liquid laundry detergent made from real lavender and botanical cleaning agents instead of the usual stronger, more toxic chemicals found in many traditional detergents. Vaska’s commitment to the environment has earned the company champion status, the highest level of recognition under the EPA’??s Safer Detergents Stewardship Initiative.
In addition to the environmental pluses, I found that Vaska cleans every bit as well as traditional detergents. I tested Vaska on my kids usual collection of mud-covered pants, chocolate ice cream stained shirts, as well as my own coffee-splattered mom duds. Everything came out clean, and the lavender scent was nice without being too strong.
Vaska is available at Target stores nationwide and at Duane Reade in New York City. At $15.99 for a 96oz bottle (64 loads), it costs a little more than regular detergents, but being kind to the earth? Priceless?
We received two single-use Vaska detergent samples in Light Lavender and Scent Free.
