Don’t you love when your skin feels naked and clean yet has a lovely finish? That’s what you get with the new BarePro Performance Foundation from bareMinerals. The skincare experts at bareMinerals have engineered a foundation that gives me 12 hours of coverage without looking heavy or sitting in my fine lines.
I started testing this product last July when they sent me a sample. I used it non-stop thru November and then found it wasn’t moisturizing enough for the winter. I switched back to the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue I had been using during the winter (it’s more moisturizing). But now that spring is here, I’ve switched back to this powder formula and I’m ready to share my thoughts.
It’s really easy to use and if you don’t love playing with makeup, you can’t overdo this. It’s a “cake-free foundation” that won’t look overdone. Yet you get a nice full coverage and like all things bareMinerals it’s formulated with 90% vitamins and minerals.
Pick from 30 “true-to-you” colors, to match your skin. To apply, they recommend the bareMinerals BAREPRO Core Coverage Brush ($30), but I think you can apply it with just about any dense foundation brush. The bareMinerals BAREPRO Core Coverage Brush is retractable and works well–but I prefer an even longer handle. With your favorite brush, sweep the product onto your face and then start with a light dusting. Layer on a bit more for more coverage.
I’m wearing just the foundation and mascara in this shot. I feel like my skin shines through–the mark of a good product. As always, I test everything we talk about. In fact, I sat on this review for months. As time went on, I liked this product more and more. Get the scoop in my review video:
Note the two downsides: One, if you have dry skin, this may not be for you. Two, there is no SPF in this product. You’ll need to use a moisturizer with SPF in if before you apply this product.
Putting oil on your face seems counterintuitive doesn’t it? But Kiehl’s new botanical product will have you rethinking what oil can do for your face. Your skin won’t feel greasy at all. I promise.
In the past year, I added a brightening facial oil to my skincare routine, making me think this cleanser might just for me.
Three Things I Love About Kiehl’s Cleansing Oil
1. The smell
2. It gets eye makeup off easily
3. It leaves your face feeling refreshed, not dry
You won’t get a big sudsy wash, as the cleanser emulsifies, it’ll get whiter and milky looking. I start with three pumps on dry skin. I blend the oil in my hands and then apply to my face. After a bit of cleansing, I wet my hands and add some water–things get a little sudsier then.
For my everyday eye makeup, this gets EVERYTHING off! When I did a dramatic evening eye (charcoal shadow and black liner), I did have to go back with an eye makeup remover to get the eye makeup off.
With the drier, colder air, switching to a gentler cleanser just makes sense for my beauty routine. Do you switch things up for winter? I am also on the hunt for a GREAT winter moisturizer to use after skiing. Any ideas? Any great moisturizing masks? Friends, I want to test them. Please let us know!
It definitely smells like a garden–there’s nothing harsh or chemically about the scent. I was happy to see evening primrose oil (which is rich in omega-6 fatty acids)–I’ve been hearing so much about primrose is face products. Plus it has my favorite essential oil, lavender, which just makes everything smell like the fields of France. It’s also soap-free, sulfate-free, and mineral oil free. But it’s not free. Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil is $32. Shop for it here: Kiehls.com

With Summer approaching there have been a lot of new and exciting beauty products on the market that I have had the chance to learn about at some press events. From options for skincare to bodycare to hair care systems, here are a few of my favorite new items on the market that may just enhance your summer beauty rountine.
1. Acne Clearing Scrub: Bioré has been known for years for their pore-clogging products. They recently launched the Acne Clearing Scrub, a micro-scrub that targets the deep down dirt and oil that can cause acne without disturbing skins natural moisture balance without irritating or over-drying. Featuring Skin Purifying Technology, the cleanser contains Superfine Alumina Crystals that provide ultra smooth exfoliationwithout any irritation. With promises to have skin “visibly clearer and healthier” in 24 hours and availability at your local drugstore, this cleaner is definitely worth a try.
2. Clairol Root Touch-Up: Motherhood has brought me many joys, but it has also increased the onset of gray hairs. I don’t have them all over, which is why a product like the Clairol Root Touch-Up by Nice n Easy is ideal for me. As the first root maintenance product to mass market, Nice n Easy continues to help women erase their roots and grays, restoring color confidence in just 10 minutes and lasting up to three weeks and provides 100% gray coverage.
They also recently updated their design and now offer a wider brush and oval mixing bowl in response to womens desire for an easier DIY application process. While trying this out, I loved how the wider brush area doubles as a mixer for the formula, allows for a faster application to roots, hairline and temples. The brushs styling tip encourages easier parting and separating of the hair. There is also a sturdier tray that allows for easy mixing without the fear of having the product tip over!
3. New Dial Coconut Water Body Wash: A few weeks ago I told you all about how my daughters’ loved the new Dial for Kids line. They also launched a new scent for women with their Dial Coconut Water Body Wash. As a huge coconut water fan, I was excited for this new formulation that is designed to offer ‘ultra-fresh hydration.’ The product not only cleans the skin, but it leaves it feeling hydrated, moisturized and soft.
4.Eden Allure Argan Oil: There has been a lot of rage for Argan Oil, and as someone with sensitive skin I was really eager to try it out and see how it could benefit my skin. I had the chance to try out Eden Allure, a skin care line based exclusively off exotic Moroccan Argan oil. This includes a line that is high in essential fatty acids and anti-oxidants that has been wonderful for moisturizing and preventing free radical damage to the skin. After using it for about a month I am amazed at how it has left my skin smooth and silky as well as refreshed thanks to the use of no harsh ingredients.
5. Secret Clinical Strength Stress Response Deodorant: Even though it will soon be summer, stresses are still rampant. I try not to let that overtake me, but it can be challenging with all that life has to offer. The Secret Clinical Strength Stress Response Deodorant is designed to help you stay protected from stress by fights all three causes of sweat including the worst smelling kind, stress sweat. This is thanks to Secrets patented BCD technology uses odor-neutralizing molecules to trap odor, lock it away and then replace the odor with a fresh scent to keep you smelling clean and fresh.
7. Gillette Venus & Olay Razor: Get smooth legs this summer with no knicks thanks to the interchangeable Venus Razor that features 5-blad technology as well as Olay to lock in moisture. We love this since you don’t need any separate shaving cream and it has a supergrip and a shower holder to make it easier to house in-between uses.

I have very sensitive skin, where I know what products work as well as those that cause irritation. One of my all-time favorites is derma e, a company that believes in healthy skin as well as a healthier world and environment.
Developed in the 1960s by the Stearn family who realized that topical application of Vitamin E would benefit skin health. Today derma e offers a full line of natural, therapeutic skin and hair care formulations rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and botanicals. derma e believe that beautiful skin is healthy skin, and derma e are committed to developing and producing the highest quality formulations to nourish and care for the entire body.
They also recently launched bolder and simplified packaging with new product names with the same high-quality natural ingredients. This includes a line of non-GMO ingredients, ingredients sourced from environmentally friendly farms that practice sustainable agriculture, organic ingredients whenever possible, and 100 percent recyclable packaging. Products are also paraben-free, cruelty-free and vegan and they offer treatments and solutions for dryness, eczema, acne, bruises, irritation and much more.
I recently had the chance to try out some of their products, and I loved how gentle and effective their Firming Serum is as well as their mild Very Clear Scrub. One of my favorites is their Evenly Radiant BB Crème that I have been using everyday. This one-step formula quickly evens out my skin while also brightening, moisturizing, and protecting. The company offers a variety of cleansers, toners, serums, moisturizers, and even skincare products for men.
Another truly unique aspect of derma e is that they manufacture with wind energy, while reducing the companys environmental footprint, by matching 100% of conventional electricity use with clean, renewable energy. This renewable energy purchase supports derma e® in their continuing effort to completely offset carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. derma e also has an in-office conservation program, recycling program and supports eco-friendly business practices as a member of the Green America Business Network.
Beautiful inside and out, derma e offers everything for a variety of skin conditions by also using vitamins, antioxidants and botanicals that are gentle, safe, and effective.

Big, beautiful lashes are always desirable, and I find myself constantly trying out the latest formulas and brushes from a plethora of brands. I feel like I have tried them all. From drugstores to Sephora, to make-up counters to high-end boutiques, there are so many places to find variety. This one separates lashes, but this one lengthens. This one gets the outer edges but this one adds volume. It’s enough to make a girl’s head spin.
I recently read an article in which Khloe Kardashian was dishing about her favorite products and she could not say enough good things about Lancome’s Hypnose mascara. I kept thinking, “It’s just mascara…What’s the big deal?” So I went to my local Sephora to find out.
Not that I want to hand KK any points for being right, but girl was right! I tried two different formulas from the Lancome line, each with different, but equally pleasing results. Both of the mascaras give uber length which is what is super hot this spring.
First I tried theLancome Defincils mascara in deep black. It is a light formula which gives lashes a high def, doll-like look. It coats evenly with zero clumpage.
Next I tried KK’s fave, Lancome Hypnose mascara in black. This formula and brush are thicker which gives lashes a more dramatic look. The length plus volume in this mascara is perfect for evening wear or special occasions.
Both mascaras retail at $27 which while expensive, gets the job done beautifully. Plus they both are very gentle to your natural lashes and wash away easily with cleanser.
*Beauty tip* Adding a few drops of saline solution to mascara tubes doesn’t damage the formula and makes it last twice as long.
