Spring Boredom Busters

We’re in the home stretch. My kids get out of school in about a month and a half, so “senioritis” has definitely set in. They are ready for the freedom of summer, but we’re not quite there yet, so I have to come up with ways to keep them occupied until it’s time for all the fun summer activities I have planned. Camps and family trips will definitely make for happy, busy kiddos, but what do we all do in the meantime? We get creative. That’s what we do. We help them buckle down during the week so they can finish off their school year with a bang, but we introduce some fun spring boredom busters on the weekends to help them get through these final weeks!

On that note, I rounded up some of my favorite spring boredom busters, so you can, hopefully, add a few new tricks to your bored kid bag too. Haha!

Explore your neighborhood…Take a walk around your neighborhood and encourage your kids to point out things they notice like a bird they’ve never seen or some new flowers in your neighbor’s yard. You’ll get bonus points for introducing a fun ride to the equation. The Radio Flyer Build a Wagon is perfect for spring and summer walks as you can get an awning to go with it that will keep the sun off your wee one’s precious skin! And you can’t beat the cupholders. Just sayin’!

Dress the part…This Fab Kids dress is perfect for spring weather and all the fun that comes with it. It is comfy, floaty and so very fun with its bright tribal print and neon colors! A flower hair clip and moccasins complete the look. Oh and we can’t forget the bunny. My daughter makes a fashion statement even with her stuffies. Haha! We can’t get enough of this Hazel Village Juliette The Party Rabbit Doll from Noble Carriage!

sanrio mlb

Take in some sports…Sure spring has spring training, but it’s fleeting and you may not live in an area where you can go to a spring training game. But never fear…The regular season has begun and chances are that even if you can’t find a major league game, there’s a minor league team in your area. Get your littlest fans excited about game time with goodies like you can find in the Sanrio and MLB collab. My hubs used to play for the Rangers, so this Hello Kitty Texas Rangers plush and fan were no brainers for our family!

play-doh

Plan a family game night…Family game night can take on so many forms. Sure, traditional games are a blast, but you could also get your hands dirty and really create your own fun with something like the Play-Doh Touch Shape to Life Studio. Or you could give in and play princess with that little lady who’s always begging. Hasbro has some darling Disney Beauty and the Beast, Disney Moana, Disney Elena of Avalor, Disney Frozen, FurReal Fuzz Pets and Spider-Man Homecoming Web Gear sets that would certainly lend to plenty of creative play. I like to keep a few toys like this stored away for when I want to shake things up with some new boredom busters.

You could also encourage a budding astronaut by “taking off into space” with Seedling’s Galaxy Rocket Adventure Cape. And then you could always go the traditional game night route with board games like the hilarity inducing Egged On, Toilet Trouble, Flip Challenge and Speak Out Kids Vs Parents from Hasbro. And, finally, for a very special treat, you could play a video game together. Lego City Undercover just came out and I see some serious family gaming in the future…

Well, that’s all she wrote…Hopefully these spring boredom busters will help you make it to the end of the school year too!
