Kimpton Boston Review

Boston is one of those towns that has both history and pockets of charm which makes it an idyllic place to visit. I trusted my trip to Kimpton Boston–I love to combine work and pleasure. It’s the way I run Momtrends and how I choose to live my life, Kimpton fits in perfectly.

Each Kimpton hotel has personality and flair, yet they keep the spirit of service consistent. With each new location I visit I know I will get an experience that leaves me rested and delighted. Boston was no exception. This location is decorated with nautical accents with modern, playful touches. Think posh, yet approachable.

Why Boston? That’s easy. It’s packed with history and fun. Making it the perfect family trip. And when it comes to business, it’s a fantastic hub with a convenient conference center. I’m in Boston at least twice a year for work.

But let’s focus on family for a minute. Boston is a great spot for a weekend getaway. The sweeping river throughout inner Cambridge and the vast amount of family focused activities practically begs you to come and stay. When you do finally make the trip, where should you hang your hat? The Kimpton Marlowe Hotel is the answer.

Forget about it’s perfect location or it’s affordability. All the other comforts it offers will sweep you off your feet. This welcome treat is just an example of how the Kimpton Marlowe team goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome. I know I loved noshing on these treats.

Speaking of treats, Kimpton is known for fun happy hours to help guests mingle and unwind after work or a busy day of taking in the sites. During our stay, they team had a wonderful complimentary hot cocoa bar to put me into the spirit of the season–marshmallows plus peppermint…count me in!

When if comes to making families welcome, it’s more than just cocoa that Kimpton delivers. They want you to bring the WHOLE family. Kimpton has an “everyone is welcome” pet policy. From pot bellied pig to baby horse, if you’ve got it, they can provide shelter for it.

Since I left our pet a home, I was feeling a little lonely. I requested a pet for the duration of my stay. While the varietals of animal only include fish, having a gilled friend for a few days is pretty nice. I named this little fellow Mojito. He made an excellent companion.

While visiting for the Boston Biggest Baby Shower Ever, our team of three hunkered down in a cozy room with a lovely view of the harbor. The Baby Shower event was a tremendous success and we loved getting to know some of the new moms in the city. We even ran into Liza Huber, owner of Sage Spoonfuls.

The Marlowe was convenient to my event and a short uber ride from the Conference Center. After the event, we were starving. We didn’t want to end the day in and endless Google/Yelp search and lucky for us, the hotel has a fabulous restaurant, Bambara, that accommodated our later hours. I had an unbelievably good pasta dish—the Triple Cream Tortelli– that featured mushrooms, hazelnuts, and brown butter. We also snacked on mussels and falafel. You can’t go wrong with any of their dishes, especially with a glass of wine!

If you are there to play more than work, be sure to make time to visit the nearby Canal Park and stop into the adjacent mall for a bit of shopping. For your culture fix, the Museum of Science is a two minute walk from the hotel. A bit further is the Sports Museum.

Walking Boston is a great workout, but if you are there for work it’s essential to have fitness options. We are of the thought and mind that in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, you can’t slack. The Kimpton Marlowe also sports a beautiful gym area with several machines, stretch bands, and free weights.

Since I’m a bit of a health nut, these touches matter. I want a gym that’s well lit, and thoughtfully designed. Speaking of thoughtful, each room also has a yoga mat to inspire your morning downward dogs. This is all a part of their wellness philosophy, they want their guests feeling great before and after the visit.

The hotel itself is gorgeous. Compass accents throughout keep the design cohesive and pops of color in chairs and throws make it comfortable and inviting. There’s a grand spiral staircase in the lobby as well as a plush sitting area complete with a fireplace, coffee, and they certainly got into the spirit of the season.

Whether it’s work or play that brings you to Boston, the Kimpton Marlowe will be my healthy home away from home. You can book your next stay here (there are three Kimpton hotels in Boston)
