Syncing Your Style: A Few of My Favorite Things for Baby

Baby B is three months old and I am awed by how much things have changed since my last baby was born! I have rounded up some of my favorite things for baby to make your life easier, your baby content, always with a nod to style and innovation.

Aden + Anais: I love the new travel changing pad by aden+anais. It is made from their signature über soft muslin, comes in adorable prints and is perfectly sized to change baby while out and about. Washable, (I always put muslin items in a delicates bag) portable and comfortable, everything this mama needs for making changes quick and painless.

Bebe au Lait: Muslin swaddles are an absolute must have for this mama, and now the makers of the great nursing covers, bring you a muslin line that is perfect for baby.  Bebe au Lait’s new muslin line has super soft nursing covers in calming colors, muslin swaddles perfect for every day use and my new favorite, Bebe au Lait’s muslin cuddle blankies. My daughter is just starting to grab and tug and we’ve been using the soft muslin blankie to play mini tug o’ war. The dual sided print is soothing and the sized “just-right” square is perfect for baby’s first lovie. I love that it washes easily and I can stow them in my bag (no more worrying if I forget baby’s favorite lovie!) and the multi layer ensures that it last.

belle & beanzer: We have hardwood floors throughout our house as do all of our family members. We love to let baby stretch and get in a dose of tummy time while out and about but need a little extra cushion from the harsh (and cold!) wood flooring. We have been using the adorable heart shaped belle & beanzer Big Love versatile blanket. We love it not only because it is made from seasonless super soft pima cotton, but it is tagless, has comfortable flat seams and is made in the USA. You can use belle & beanzer’s Big Love blanket for swaddling, its unique arm pockets built into the wings of the blanket help you anchor your little one’s arms for a nice, snug swaddle. It’s also great for nursing because you can use the arm pockets to create a secure, discreet tent around baby that allows you to see, touch and play. and while out and about, the wings of the heart wrap around baby while the tapered end hangs free of the stroller wheels.

Burt’s Bees: As a greenie mama, I know the harms of traditional baby powder. I have been looking for a safer alternative and found it in Burt’s Bees Baby Bee Cream to Powder 2 in 1 Diaper Cream and Baby Powder. It works well to keep baby’s bottom clean, soft and rash free without the harmful chemicals. It goes on as a smooth cream and dries to a soft, powdery finish. I have been using the Baby Bee® Kissable Cheeks Balm on my own lips and face as well as my preschooler’s. The winter has been harsh on our skin and Burt’s Bees Kissable Cheeks Balm goes on easily (we keep it on the car!) and soothes our dry, chapped skin using cocoa butter and Vitamin E.

Born-Free: Known for their well-loved bottles, Born Free (Newborn Free) has a new line of muslin accessories for baby that are as sweet as they are functional. I love that their pacifier pouch is machine washable and is not made from harmful plastics. Another favorite is the machine washable flat-pack snack, zipper close snack bag. This is perfect for my snacks for now, or for stashing used burp clothes. The new (washable!) line includes muslin swaddles blankets (so versatile!), snap front bibs, bottle and pacifier cases as well as nursing covers and burp cloths all available in soft, soothing colors and prints.

Chewbeads: We love Chewbeads stylish jewelry for mom to wear and baby to chew, but now Chewbeads introduced a rattle/teether for baby. The Chewbeads Mercer Rattle is made from the same safe 100% silicone as their signature jewelry: NO lead, PVC or phthalates, cadium or heavy metals. It is soft and soothing for baby’s gums, and its flexible design offers mulitple textures. It is easily cleaned with soapy water and is also dishwasher safe. The Chewbeads Mercer Rattle makes a great first teether and is available in several bright color combinations.

Mocc Ons: From the makers of the funky and fashionable Sock-Ons come Mocc-Ons. Not only are these soft, washable slipper-socks crazy cute, they keep baby’s feet warm, comfortable and protected. I love the grips on the bottom that will be perfect when baby girl starts crawling and the stretchy material is cozy but ensures the slipper-socks stay put.  Mocc-ons are ideal for children ages 6 months-three years and comes in enough fun and fabulous prints to meet every taste.

Nose Frida: Not the prettiest mom must have but so handy. If you’re little one has a stuffy nose, the Nose Frida will help you remove it in a safe, sanitary way. You literally suck the mucus out of your baby’s nose BUT I assure you there’s a filter, and a long tube in the way of anything disgusting entering your mouth. I love it because it is a safe and effective way to you no longer have to poke baby’s delicate nose.

Pediped: Whether big or small, ladies love shoes! Pediped makes shoes that are as adorable as they are comfortable for baby all while being appropriate for their developmental stage. They protect baby’s feet, provide structure and support and are flexible to contour to baby’s every step, flex and movement. all that and they are adorable on little kicky feet to boot! ( no pun intended!)

Prince Lionheart: As a cloth diapering mama, one of the tricks that I have learned is to use warm cloth wipes to make diaper changes easy while cutting down the need for disposable wipes. I used to run to the sink before each change but this is neither convenient nor practical. Enter Prince Lionheart “warmies” wipe warmer. It is perfect for cloth wipes~ keps them warm, moist and clean making diaper changes easy and waste-free and comfortable for baby.  I use many of their suggested wipe solutions (just remember to wash cloths separately from cloth diapers as the essential oils coat the diapers causing build-up and leaks). For stays away from home, Prince Lionheart also makes a travel wipes warmer complete with car charger.

SureShop: The SureShop is one of those products that you wished you had a million times over and once you have it, wonder how you ever went without it! The SureShop by Hatch Things is a reusable, lightweight yet strong (holds up to 10 lbs! each) set of stroller bags that attach to the front of your stroller so it doesn’t tip the stroller as your eager child jumps out. I have tried it and absolutely love that I’m using reusable bags and can stow them compactly in my diaper bag, but it truly keeps your stroller upright (goods and all) when your child is out of it.  It redistributes the weight of the stroller so it doesn’t topple over. So simple, so ingenious! A shower-gift must have!
